Hey lovely people! In this week’s post I wanted to share a new travel inspiration with you. If you happen to travel to or are living in the UK, make sure to place Bath in Somerset (England) onto your bucket list.
Bath is a small historical city that’s a delight to explore on foot, with all the main tourist spots minutes away. It’s packed with Georgian architecture, lovely beige-sandy colored buildings with colorfully-painted doors. It’s slinky, sophisticated and charming. A true Somerset gem.
I went to Bath last year, whilst I was staying for a few months in London on a company program. I decided to take advantage of one of the UK Spring bank holidays and planned a little trip to England’s countryside.
The trip took place in April and I can definitely recommend this time period – the trees were in their full bloom, the weather was just perfect and sunny.
I booked my journey with Trainline, it took 2 hours, 13 minutes with 1 change. I started off from London Paddington went to Chippenham by train, where I changed for a bus to Bath Spa station. The cost of the journey was £57.50.
I stayed at the lovely SACO Bath – St James’s Parade, a picturesque Georgian hotel located in the centre of historic Bath.
Roman Baths
Romans built a complex of bathhouses above Bath’s three natural hot springs. Be patient as the place can get super busy, obviously it’s Bath’s main attraction. With a (handy?) headphone in your hand talking you through the history of terms, you’ll spend around 2 hours walking around the complex.
Royal Crescent
A row of 30 terraced houses laid out in a sweeping crescent, an amazing example of Georgian architecture. We got ourselves a couple of ciders and crisps and were catching sun rays bear feet on the grass. Aaaaaaamazing.
Pulteney Bridge
Picturesque bridge on a river Avon.
Circus
I haven’t seen this anywhere else. A street of large townhouses forming a circle with three entrances. Brilliant and will give you a wow (almost jaw-dropping) effect. I loved it!
Safe trips,
Lids
